About Me:
Dr Salil Dhamankar has been practicing Paediatrics for 23 years. The first paediatric patient that he saw was in the year 1997 (that's last century!) He has treated children across several latitudes and longitudes of Earth & seen patients of all races of humanity and across many ethnic groups! He has worked in rural as well as intensely urban settings of India & Europe. He has worked with children with special needs and had been the named doctor for a residential center in England, dealing with these kids. But his interest always lay in Paediatric infectious diseases and oncology. He has been a member of the European Society of Paediatric Infectious Diseases (ESPID). He also participated in a research study about meningococcal diseases in Europe. He was involved with teaching of medical students and was an examiner for an East Midlands Medical School in the United Kingdom. He was fondly called 'Batman' by his colleagues & students for his midnight teaching sessions for the doctors-in-training at the University Hospitals group in East Midlands in England! He has extensively researched and co-authored a chapter on histiocytosis in an oncology handbook in the UK. He and his team had also received a research grant for identifying new targets for drugs on a particular type of cancer cell but he refused the opportunity for a chance to practice children's medicine in India. He is currently on the medical register in both United Kingdom and in India. Apart from medicine he is also interested in astronomy and has had a formal training in astronomy & astrophysics from Mumbai University. He has even discovered two asteroids! Dr Salil practices medicine on the principle- 'first do no harm'. He knows his strengths & limitations and believes in 'scientific practice by consensus and as per protocols based on current updated guidelines in the field of Paediatrics & child health.' You can consult him by appointment in MM Hospital.- MONDAY TO SATURDAY - 6 PM
